OneRepublic; Fame from the Begining

OneRepublic has made its appearance almost everywhere. Their music has been used on the "Today Show" as well as in movies such as "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." Their first album "Dreaming Out Loud" had extreme success and, by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA), the album was certified as Platinum.
The band was formed in 2002 by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins in Colorado Springs. Other members include Drew Brown, Eddie Fisher, Brent Kutzle, and at one time, Jerrod Bettis and Tim Myers. OneRepublic falls into the pop rock and alternative rock genres.
As mentioned before, the band's first album, "Dreaming Out Loud," had great success. This album was released in November of 2007 and quickly gained fame when Timberland did a remake of the albums first single, "Apologize." Timberland's version of the song at first gained more fame than OneRepublic's original version but with the Timberland, a highly known celebrity, remaking their song, they were able to gain some popularity. The second single of the album, "Stop and Stare," was able to get into the top ten because of this. I really like this album because of the classic instruments that seem to be the highlight of the music. The piano and violins stand out and are a little different than most of the other stuff you hear on the radio.
OneRepublic released their second album, "Waking Up," almost exactly two years after their first album. This album hit its highlight at number 21 on the Billboard 200. The album's first single, "All the Right Moves," was number 18 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Almost every single on this album gained some sort of fame on tv, the radio, or in a movie. the most successful single though was "Good Life." It was number 8 on the Billboard top 100 and selling over 4 million copies in the US. I can honestly say I love this album because it contains some of my favorite songs by OneRepublic and this is one of those albums that you love every single song on it.
The most resent album by OneRepublic is "Native." I love this album but I also hate it. I love it because it has a few songs that still sound like OneRepublic's sound in the first two albums. I hate it because the other half of the album's songs sound too edited and just had too many things going on. I do like a lot of the songs on the deluxe album and I feel that would be the best place to look for a song off of the "Native" album. I highly recommend you check out the acoustic version of "If I Loose Myself" because the  orchestra is absolutely perfect.

Florence and the Machine

Florence and the Machine is an indie rock band from England formed in 2007. The members include Florence Welch and Isabella Summer as well as a combination of many other artists. The band's début album, "Lungs," struck much success. This album was number two its first five weeks on the UK Albums Chart and was a best selling album in the UK in 2009-2010, selling over 100,000 copies. Their song "Dog Days Are Over," one of my favorite songs, has been featured on various TV shows and gained much fame. I have fallen in love with the song "Rabbit Heart," on this album. I love the tempo of this song and Florence has quite an original voice that tops everything off. I have a select few songs on this particular album that I absolutely adore and then there are some songs that  I don't really care for.
Florence and the Machine's second album, "Ceremonials" gained almost as much attention as the first. The album peaked at number one on the UK Albums Chart as well as number six in the US.
Their song "Shake it Out," another one of my favorites, was nominated for the 2013 Grammy Awards. The band's song "What the Water Gave Me" when released on YouTube got 1.5. million views in just 2 days. Unlike their last album, I like most of the songs on this album. I really like their song, "No Light, No Light," because it has a good beat and the lyrics were well written. I like their song "Spectrum" also because of its good beat. The band had intended to make "Ceremonials," an album full of percussion and rhythm, according to an interview done with Florence, and I believe they have achieved that goal.
During the time of "Ceremonials," Florence and the Machine have written and produced a few songs for movies, including "Over Love," which was in "The Great Gatsby" and "Breath of Life" for "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Florence announced in July that they were starting their third album, so keep that in mind.

The Black Keys: Two-Man Band

The Black Keys are an American rock band that was formed in 2001. The members include Dan Auerbach  (guitar and vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums). The band released their first album, "The Big Come Up," in 2002. They released seven albums before their breakthrough album, "Brothers" which was released in 2010.
"Brothers" contained the song "Tighten Up," one of The Black Keys' most famous single which won three Grammy Awards. The album also has the songs "Howling For You," and "She's Long Gone" which became mildly popular. This has to be my favorite album because it contains some of my favorite songs like "Next Girl," and "Tighten Up," which is my all time favorite song of their's.
The Black Keys' album, "El Camino," was their eighth album and was their second breakthrough. This album contained their song "Lonely Boy," which became madly popular one the radio and on TV. This album also was number two on the Billboard 200 chart and was the cause for the band's first tour, "El Camino Tour." I really like the song "Dead and Gone," on this album because, as usual, it has great guitar and drums and it has that sound of American rock mixed with a little bit of blues. I feel this whole album portrays this in some way and it sounds like something you could listen to no matter how you feel.
The Black Keys'  latest album "Turn Blue," which was just released, was their first number one record in the US and Australia as well. This album has more of a "psychedelic rock" sound to it. It is a little different then the band's usually sound but the change is not necessarily a bad thing. I am glad they have been able to make the change in style but still keep their strength with the drums and guitar. One of the most popular singles of this album is "Fever" I don't particularly like this song because I think it is too repetitive. I do like their single "Turn Blue" which was also mildly popular. My favorite song on this album would have to be "Gotta Get Away" because it has a classic sound. I really like this album and would encourage you to check it out.
