Passenger; Singer of Reality

The Band /Passenger. (yes that is how you spell it) was formed in 2003 by Michael David Rosenburg (main singer/songwriter) and his friend, Andrew Philips in Brighton and Hove UK. The rest of the members included Alon Cohen, Tom Mills, Stephen Hoed, and Robin Coward. The band released their début album, "Wicked Man's Rest," in 2007. Philips left the band after the released of this album and the band broke up later in 2009. Rosenberg decide to pursue a solo career as "Passenger."
Passenger released his first album, "Wide Eyes Blinded Love," in 2009. This album had ten songs on it and I love them all but one, "Snowflakes," which I feel is a repetitive song and it is somewhat sad and dull song. Other than that I feel that the album is great. My favorite song in this album is "Caravan," because I like the guitar in it and I felt like it had really great lyrics. Most Passenger songs have really great, deep lyrics and if you listen closely you can see how thought out they were.
The 2nd album Passenger released, "Flight of the Crow," (2010) was even better then the first album. By this time I think Passenger realized that in today's music people like to have a beat to tap their foot to, so he includes a little more drums and other instruments in this album. "Flight of the Crow" had a feature artist for every song but the song "Flight of the Crow." My favorite song of this album is "Shape of Love," (feat. Boy & Bear) because it has that great drum beat (drums are very important to me...) and I feel like this song was fuller that his last album's songs. This song had more sound to it and not just guitar and singing (like the first album), and don't get me wrong I love acoustic and everything but I feel that if you have more instruments then you can do more with your music. There  were many songs on this album that I liked and thought they had great improvement from the already good, first album.
"All the Little Lights," was Passenger's third album and by far my favorite. This album showed a lot of emotion if you listened to the words. The most popular song, "Let Her Go," was on this album, perhaps you've heard it on the radio. My favorite songs on this album would have to be "Life's for the Living," and "Starring at the Stars." "Life's for the Living," talks a lot about the reality of today (most of the album talks about problems of today.) I really love the horns played in this song, they really did a good job on the background music. Both songs "Life's for the Living," and "Starring at the Stars," both have great lyrics, as always. The song " Starring at the Stars," uses great wordplay to express the flaws in today's normal. The use of violins can make the lyrics almost funny in a mocking way and I think it is just great the way it is put together. I would highly encourage you to check this album out.
Passenger's newest album "Whispers," has just recently come out. The song " Coins in a Fountain," has a great use  of violins, bongos, and cymbals. I love how he was able to include all of these instruments without it sounding over done, I feel like he was able to make it work and very well. The song "Whispers," is an absolutely amazing song, I can't even explain how much I love this song. I think the guitar at the end was dramatic and the drums in the middle was a perfect slow rhythm matched with Rosenburg's raised voice that seemed to compliment the rest of the emotion in the musical background. I would recommend that you check this album out or at least this song.

Note: if you like Passenger, you should check out Oh Honey, I saw them in concert with The Fray recently and I know you will be hearing them on the radio soon.
