The Script; The Band You Need to Know

For those unfamiliar with The Script, they are a pop rock band for Dublin Ireland. The band was formed by Danny O'Donoghue (lead singer and piano player) and Mark Sheenan (vocals and guitar). Mark and Danny decided to form a band after being dropped by their record company of their previous band, Mytown. They then recruited Glen Power(drums) and formed The Script in 2001.
The Script is a popular band in America, the UK and Ireland. Perhaps you have heard them on the radio. I have been fortunate enough to be able to attend one of their concerts. The Script opened for One Republic and American Author opened for them as well (watch for a future blog post!). They sounded live exactly the same as on the radio; I was impressed.
The Script's début album was released the 8th of August in Ireland and the 11th in the UK by Photogenic Records. This album was number one in sales in the UK for 11 weeks and was the 18th best seller of 2008. The album contained many great, popular, singles including, "Before the Worst," "We Cry," which was their first single and top ten single, "Breakeven," and "The Man Who Can't Be Moved." I love this album because it contains many 'alive' drumbeats. The lyrics are cleverly written and easy to learn; it is sometimes hard to stop yourself from singing along. O'Donoghue's Irish accent is the icing on the cake for the lyrics; it gives the music such a original sound.
The Script's second album, "Science and Faith," was released on September 10th 2010. The album contained the singles, "If You Ever Come Back," "Dead Man Walking," "Nothing," (which was the best song they performed at the concert that I attended) "For the First Time," and others. This album contains so many great singles that I would encourage to just buy the whole album. Same as the first, this album has great drumbeats and catchy lyrics. I love this album because usually over time artists' styles change, sometimes for the best and sometimes for the worst, but I feel that The Script was able to keep their same, great, style.
"#3" was The Script's third album which featured Will.i.am for their most popular single of the album, "Hall of Fame." Other singles of this album include, "Six Degrees of Separation," "If You Could See Me Now," "Good Ol' Days," and others. What I like the most about this album is that they have included many live versions of their old songs like, "Talk You Down" and "Breakeven."
The Script's newest album, "No Sound Without Silence," will be released on September 12th, 2014 (Preorders are available). A few singles have already been released like "Superheroes." I have high expectations for this album and I encourage you to check it out.

If you like The Script, I would encourage you to look up The Fray and Train.
